Schedule

1:30 - 2:00 Welcome

2:00 - 3:00 Masterclass: Genealogy of Audio Visualization with Greg Hermanovic and Markus Heckmann

Audio visualization is one of the most engaging aspects of TouchDesigner. The software's modular architecture and initial concept as a generative graphics VJ tool have made music an integral part of its DNA. In this session, Greg Hermanovic and Markus Heckmann will delve into and demonstrate classic and modern audio visualization techniques, as well as the process of replicating, imitating, or recreating them in TouchDesigner.

3:30 - 4:00 Talk: Exploring Live Fulldome Performances with Lydia Yakonowsky

In this talk, Lydia will discuss the technique of creating live content for fulldome environments using TouchDesigner, using her latest project ARIMA as an example. Drawing from insights gained through previous fulldome projects, the presentation covers how she composes and tests visual elements specifically for the immersive 3D space. The presentation will also explore the use of diverse inputs to enrich the sensory experience. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the artistic process involved, from conceptualization to real-time execution.

Lydia Yakonowsky is an economist, multimedia artist and VJ. Favouring immersive environments, she reuses and deconstructs visual elements from charts based on economic theory to create original immersive works that question and reshape the utility of economic modeling. All of her work is created with TouchDesigner.

4:15 - 5:15 Masterclass: TouchDesigner and Bitwig for Advanced Audio-Visual Creation with Jarrett Smith

This presentation demonstrates powerful techniques for creating complex audio-visual pieces by combining TouchDesigner and Bitwig, similar to the TouchDesigner bridge to Ableton. We'll also introduce an efficient rendering pipeline for timeline-based ProRes output.

Hardware setup & inter-application communication at audio rates • Audio and CV data transfer using Dante • Dante configurations: RedNet, Allen & Heath, RME • Dante Virtual Sound Card • Essential networking concepts

Data manipulation with Bitwig Grid • Integration of Bitwig Grid with TouchDesigner CHOPs & POPs • Audio rate data mapping and visual synthesis techniques

Efficient animation pipeline for live collaboration and broadcast • Packing and playback of Bitwig audio and controller data in lightweight movie containers • Timeline-based rendering and recording setup with ProRes output

5:30 - 6:00 Talk: Combining Laser and Video with TouchDesigner with Karl Skene

"The synergistic effect of integrating laser graphics with video projection or LED wall is endlessly inspiring for me. In this presentation I will discuss my workflow for establishing relationships between the two, and manipulating them in real-time with TouchDesigner."

6:00 - 7:30 Social time with cash bar

This is a free event taking place in a room with limited capacity. Entry will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
